Ladies and Gentlemen, Introducing the Great Flats Challenge 2012.
This is a 30 day hand-washing and flat challenge starting June 4th and ending July 4th 2012. Help us celebrate independence from disposable diapers!
We have all heard the stories…the ones where a parent only uses 2 disposable diapers per day because they can’t afford diapers and food. Let’s not even speak of the horrible rashes, the baby going septic, or even dying.
I believe that no parent should ever have to make that choice.
I further believe that due to the misinformation surrounding cloth diapers that many parents do not believe they are an option. Let’s be clear, you do not need a $500 stash. You do not need a spiffy washer and dryer. You don’t even need access to a laundry mat. You need a source of clean water. The sole purpose of this challenge is to raise awareness about how affordable and accessable flats can be.
We will be hand washing and air drying over the course of 30 days. I took inspiration from a similar challenge last year that was 7 days. I think that 30 days shows more commitment to our cause. I’ll be doing it with you! I won’t ask anyone to do something that I will not do myself. We need to reach out to other communities and get others involved. There is plenty of time between now and June 4th 2012 to stock up and get the word out.
